Turn a folder into a working piece of art.

It’s that time again, “Back to School”.  I used to love back to school shopping. New school supplies were my guilty pleasure.  Maybe that’s where I found my love of crafting, who knows?

While shopping around for school supplies, I noticed all the supplies looked plain.  As a crafter I decided to dress them up!

I purchased a plain pocket folder and filled it with note paper and used Core’dinations Neutrals 12×12 paper pad and Petaloo Floradoodles to decorate.

I used Embossed flowers, Floradoodles to design the covers and used Jute string for the stems and adhered it with liquid glue.

I like to add Petaloo Brads to the center of the flowers or layer the flowers and use the Brad to secure the flowers to a project.

I love these pockets that I created with Core’dinations paper to hold supplies.  Perfect paper quality from Core’dinations!

Different uses for Brads and Bling

My favorite time of year is about to start and I couldn’t be any more excited. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and I wanted to share a fun idea with you.  Here’s a simple project to create with the kids by decorating an already made wood coffin I found at a local craft store.

First use the wooden box as a template to cut out inserts for the coffin.  You will need one for the inside bottom of the coffin and another for the inside top of the coffin.  I used red card stock and stamped it with spider webs.  Then I used the NEW Mini Spider brads to finish the webbing I stamped.  Next, I used felt to line the inside bottom of the coffin and inked the edges black to give it a more custom look.

I also used 21 mm Red Jewel Brads to line the outside of the coffinNext, Line the top rim with Black Pearl strips. The pearls are on a strip which makes it easier to adhere on to your project.  After all is added your done!

For my next project I designed this card using flowers and jewel bling.

I used Paper Flowers which I folded in half and added the star burst bling from the bulk bling pack.  For the center I used a black pearl to finish the detail of the flower.

Hope you enjoyed the two different projects today and I’ll be back with more fun and innovative ways to design with brads and bling.

Have a great day!

Father’s Day Frame

During our Blog Hop with Quick Quotes we used Petaloo’s NEW Burlap Blossoms and Quick Quotes NEW Serendipity paper collection.  I made this Father’s Day frame I bought at Michaels.  I love the happy soft colors and the designs from both companies.

I mixed the flowers with Petaloo’s Botanicas to add some different blooms.  The flowers come with these beautiful leaves that you can mix in…so pretty!

I’m not a fan of purple, but I thought this shade would go well with this paper collection from Quick Quotes.

I used Quick Quotes Powder Puff Chalk Ink and a paint brush to outline the frame.  Now that I look at it, i should of made the line thicker.  I also did some faux stitching around the frame as well to highlight using a black marker.  The ink pads were really nice to work with and I may have to buy some now that I got the chance to play with it.  A must have!!!!!

I glued paper around the entire frame and used a file to finish the edges.  Oops, I missed a piece…LOL.  I’m sure you cant see my mistake, but I can be a little OCD.

Just a few flowers wrapped on the edges give this frame a bit of elegance and style. Hopefully this will inspire you to make something for that special DAD or Man in your life.  Have a wonderful Father’s Day weekend everyone!

Christmas Countdown

This is the first time I ever created one of these calenders.  It took awhile, but it was worth it. My hubby is going to surprise me with something fun for every day by leaving little hints in each pocket.  Today was the first day of December so he made me breakfast as the first surprise.

XMAS Calendar 6

I made little pockets for each day leading to the 25th day of December.  There’s little tags that pull out so you can write a little message.  My message this morning was to open the microwave to find out that hubby made me breakfast.

XMAS Calendar 8

I used Lifestyle Crafts envelope die to make all these envelopes. The paper collection is from Authentique’s Tradition collection.

XMAS Calendar 2

I had a few Petaloo flowers that I used on my calendar to give it some texture and some life.

I Hope you enjoyed today’s project.  Have a wonderful day!

To Boo or not to Boo

Hi there!  I’m back with another fun Halloween card and I hope you are enjoying the fun.  I wasn’t exactly sure what direction this card was going towards, but I knew it had to be a Halloween card.  My sentiment kind of explains the mood I was in.  I was in a boo mood and then I wasn’t.  Do you have moments like that?

Not a lot of people celebrate Halloween, but that’s okay.  I love the colors and the imagination and it’s probably the only time I will ever use purple…LOL

Boo details 2

I fussy cut out the black cat from these adorable Vintage Halloween Dazzlers and tucked them behind my pumpkin.  I die cut out 3 or 4 pumpkins from Tim Holtz dies and glued them back to back so I get a 3D popped look.  Isn’t this paper great by Authentique’s NEW Thrilling line?  I love the mix of patterns and colors.  Perfect for Halloween!

Have you used Petaloo’s new Vintage DazzlersPetaloo release these adorable vintage images this past Summer CHA 2013.  I love them and think it’s perfect to use for cards.  They come in a pack of 4 styles and you get two of each so there’s a total of 8 images…nice!

Happy Sunday and thanks for stopping by.
