How to Layer Flowers?

Today’s post is all about flowers.  It’s the perfect embellishment for Spring!  I love all the fun and bright colors of this season. Petaloo’s Flora Doodles have the right shape, size and colors.

I couldn’t decide what flower I like best so I used a few to create today’s card.  Don’t you just love these flowers?

I started layering my largest Flora Doodles flower and used the smaller Flora Doodles flowers to fill in the empty spaces on my card.  I also tucked in die cut leaves where needed.  This is a great way to build clusters and to add more texture to your card.

Want another technique to use on your card?  Using the Mulberry Paper Flowers I like to fold them over and layer them on another.  I like this look because it reminds me of a Cone Flower Daisy(my favorite).

The only difference between a real flower and my card is my flower has a cute frog on it.  You can get these adorable frogs from the Dazzlers Water Animalscollection.

Supplies I used:

Jeweled Florettes - Blue/Pink/White/Yell – Baby’s Coming

Embossed Mulb.Paper Daisies - Chartreuse

Hope you enjoyed today’s techniques and come back tomorrow to see more creative projects by our talented Design Team.

Embossing, Painting and Wood Paper

Need something new to do with your paints?  Have you tried to paint using Creative Imaginations Wood paper?

On this card I dry embossed my wood paper.  Next, I colored in my embossed wood with paint and blended the background and stamped my card.

Don’t you just love the look of wood paper when it’s been painted on.  It’s has a really rich look to it and of course you can glitter.  I sprayed some Radiant Rain sprays on this, but I don’t think you can see the glimmer in this photo.

Supplies I used:

Silks Paint: Guatemalan Green, Sky Blue and Fern

Real Wood 6×12 Thin Birch

Thanks for visiting, have a great day!

How to Dry Brush with Paints

Dry brushing is a painting technique in which a paint brush that is relatively dry can still holds paint. The resulting brush strokes have a characteristic scratchy look that lacks the smooth appearance that washes or blended paint commonly have.

On this card I blended a lot of color to get the right effect.  You can blend these paints by dry brushing the paints on to your project.  I used Creative Imagination’s Nature Stencil Kit

Supplies I used:

Silks:Ginger Peach, Coral Berry, Sky Blue, Guatemalan Green, Sunburst and Carmen

How to Create a Background using Alphabets

It’s another Bella Blvd product spotlight using Bella Blvd’s High Five Alphabets!

Today, I am focusing on the new High Five Alphabet Stickers. These 12×12 sheets, full of letters and numbers, are available in 5 different color sets. The great thing about the High Five Alphas, is that you’re not just getting one size and font to work with. You’re getting FIVE different sets of alphas, in different fonts, sizes, and colors. It’s so easy to find just the perfect alpha stickers for whatever project you’re working on.

“You Are Sun Shine” card, by Alice Carman.

I love text on paper so using today’s challenge I made my own text with Bella Blvd’s High Five Alphabets as my background paper. To create this look, cut out a circle. Next, line up rows of random letters across the circle. Then cut away letters that hang off the circle. This is a great way to use up the left over letter stickers we don’t use.

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Happy Clouds, Cute Cuts; Baby Boy: Heaven Scent, Borders; Ciao Chip: Clouds; High Five Alphabet Stickers: Black-White

“Hi” card, by Alice Carman.

Here’s another fun way to use your High Five Alphabets. Line up words of the same meaning and change-up the colors like you see here. Add a few strips and ribbon and you have something cute and fun.

Supplies:
Sunshine & Happiness: Borders; Baby Boy: Cute Cuts; High Five Alphabet Stickers: Black-White, Green, Yellow

Silks…It’s a Paint?

Do you love paints and inky fingers?  Today on Cards by Alice I am going to feature the NEW Silks Luminarte acrylic glaze paints by Dreaming In Color.  These little pots have the same beautiful mica color as our Luminarte H20′s but work with our paints to cover more surfaces!  I am also going to show you a few techniques on how to use them.  I really had fun using these paints and I know you will too.

I started out by dry embossing white cardstock, (used an embossing folder).  Next I painted the whole card using Sky Blue Silks acrylic glaze. Then I used Emperor’s Gold Silks acrylic glaze paint to highlight the raised image by painting over it.  It onlylooks like it was a lot of work! And i just love how it turned out!

Can you see how shimmery the Silks paints are?  Isn’t this cool?

I also used Ice Silks on the stamped butterflies so you can see how shimmery the Silks are.  The Ice color Silks is a clear coat that can be used on any color surface to add that extra shine.

supplies I used

Silks: Emperor Gold, Ice, Sky Blue and Ginger Peach

Alpha Basics CS Sticker 2.2×10

Real Wood 6×12 Thin Birch

had a great time putting this post together for you all and I hope you learned something and don’t forget to check your stores for this awesome paint.
